Logo
[edit]Does anyone else find their logo offensive - in a yonic sort of way? --PeterMarkSmith 09:46, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- Are you serious dude? Prester John 20:33, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
- wtf? in what possible way is "hcg" remotly offensive? Paco8191 03:16, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- He meant the logic that was showing as of January 20th, still viewable in the history of the logo file.
Anyone has more info to the artcle about this IHG executive? Thanks, //Urbourbo (talk) 08:42, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
the reference to 'express by holiday inn' on the IHG page seems out of date given all the hotels in europe were relaunched as Holiday Inn Express. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.7.214.111 (talk) 23:18, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
Source for American relocation?
[edit]Has InterContinental really moved to America? There is no source, and according to the official IHG website, they are still based in the UK. Jagoperson (talk) 16:46, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
Countries IHG operates in?
[edit]Concerning the "Operations" section of the article, the list of countries that IHG operates/franchises in seems to include a few countries with disputed sovereignty - particularly 'Tibet'. While this is a hot-button issue that I would rather not touch, from checking the IHG website, it does not appear that IHG currently operates hotels in Tibet since the Holiday Inn Lhasa closed earlier.
I deleted "Tibet" from the list of countries. However, with the possibility that the InterContinental Lhasa will open soon, I'm wondering if you have any feedback on how to list Tibet in the future.
On a different note, I also think that the "Notable Properties" section, which only contains one property, should be expanded or merged with the "Notable Properties" section of the InterContinental page. Any thoughts? EmperorNapoléonI (talk) 04:16, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]I propose that InterContinental be merged into InterContinental Hotels Group. I think that the content in the InterContinental article can easily be explained in the context of InterContinental Hotels Group, and the InterContinental Hotels Group article is of a reasonable size that the merging of InterContinental will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. —Fred114 10:20, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

Proposed edits to this page
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
I am Meera Thakkar from IHG. We would like to propose the following edits to this page, to reflect some factual inaccuracies:
We would like to update our brand list in the three parts of the document that they are listed (intro, sidebar and paragraph at the bottom of the page). IHG Army Hotels is not a brand. Holiday Inn Garden Court is not a brand. We have also added several new brands to our portfolio. The current list is:
Regent Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, Hotel Indigo, EVEN Hotels, HUALUXE Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, voco Hotels, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Holiday Inn Resort, avid hotels, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites.
We also refer to "EVEN" and "HUALUXE" brands in capitals.
In the intro, we would like to take out the article on Regent Hotels and our acquisition as it has now completed.
We would like to update the paragraph on the number of our hotels as it is very outdated, to the following sentence, as these are the most up to date figures: "IHG franchises, leases, manages or owns more than 5,400 hotels and 810,000 guest rooms in almost 100 countries, with nearly 1,800 hotels in its development pipeline. IHG also manages IHG Rewards Club, our global loyalty programme, which has more than 100 million enrolled members."
We would like to edit the sidebar - Christopher Marshall is not our Chairman. Patrick Cescau is. We would also like to link to his wikipedia page, as well as Keith Barr's.
We would like to uupdate the revenue and operating profit listed on the page to the figures released at our last quarterly results in August 2018. Revenue - $875 million Operating profit - $398 million — Preceding unsigned comment added by MeeraIHG (talk • contribs) 11:12, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
Dated 22nd August 2018 MeeraIHG (talk) 12:53, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
- You can update the list of brands, but not with the "®" and "™" symbols as they are unnecessary and promotional. References (to reliable sources) should be added, not removed. ". . .our global loyalty programme" is not acceptable. . Mean as custard (talk) 11:30, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

[edit]- The brands which were mentioned as no longer functioning were omitted.
-
Newer brands which were offered without references were not added. A link to a company website showing the mentioned brands would help here. Please advise.Operating brands added to the infobox and the main article lead and "Brands" section (please note that not all distinct brands were included). - The number of hotels (5,400 in the lead, 5,409 in the infobox) were updated, not including the 22 hotels not yet built but added to IHG's figures.
-
The number of guest rooms was not updated both because there was no already-existing figure to update, and the claim was unreferenced. Again, a company provided website showing this figure would work. This number of rooms, 776,982 comes from subtracting the figures IHG added which"include IHG’s 104 unbranded, PAL and InterContinental Alliance hotels (32,907 rooms), and 22 hotels in the pipeline."
because those unbranded and/or un-built properties are not otherwise mentioned in the article. - The link provided for investor information ostensibly from the August 2018 quarterly review contained no less than 24 separate links to pdf documents. Which document the information resides upon - and the document's page numbers - were not provided by the COI editor. Thus, the edit request claims referenced by it were omitted.
- The capitalization of the brand name EVEN is evident in that individual brand's Wikipedia article, immediately in the lead section (e.g., "Even Hotels (styled EVEN Hotels) is a hotel brand concept created by..."). This is the case with EVEN but not so with HUALUXE, as the latter does not exist as a stand-alone Wikipedia article. In any event, guidance suggests that the article follow standard English text formatting and capitalization practices, even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting "official".[1] All caps would only be used if this is a style already in widespread use.
- The CEO was updated and WikiLinked in the infobox. Mr. Barr's name was already present and Wikilinked.

Some proposed changes
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Information to be added or removed: Remove Christopher Marshall as Chairman and add Patrick Cescau Explanation of issue: Patrick Cescau has been IHG's Chairman since 2013 References supporting change: https://www.ihgplc.com/about-us/our-leadership/our-board/patrick-cescau
Information to be added or removed: Change "809,889 guest rooms and 5,431 hotels across nearly 100 countries" to "825,746 guest rooms and 5'518 hotels across nearly 100 countries" to reflect IHG's quarterly results as of 30 September 2018 Explanation of issue: The number of rooms and hotels is now outdated References supporting change: https://www.ihgplc.com/en/about-us/our-global-presence
PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE REQUESTED BY MEERA THAKKAR, AN EMPLOYEE OF IHG, AND ARE DONE SO TO CORRECT FACTUAL INACCURACIES WITHIN THE ARTICLE.
MeeraIHG (talk) 08:40, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
- I did the first one. Rather than update the guest and room counts, I just rounded them off, so we don't have to keep updating them. Does this address your concern? Kendall-K1 (talk) 00:31, 24 October 2018 (UTC)
"InterContinental Hotels" listed at Redirects for discussion
[edit]A discussion is taking place to address the redirect InterContinental Hotels. The discussion will occur at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2021 March 20#InterContinental Hotels until a consensus is reached, and readers of this page are welcome to contribute to the discussion. Founder
[edit]I have worked the Trippe name into the article (with some difficulty). This company, which is over 200 years old, had no involvement with Intercontinental until 1998 so there is no way that Trippe was the founder of the company. His role as the founder of the brand is already documented in the article on the InterContinental brand. Dormskirk (talk) 08:50, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
Loyalty program
[edit]@Sidisuser: You are edit warring to add details about the company loyalty program, which is both trivial and promotional. Please take a moment to read WP:NOTPROMO and discuss. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:49, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Magnolia677 Your conclusion of the details being trivial is subjective and arbitrary. Who are you to decide which details are trivial or not?
- Additional verified detail such as what's being discussed here simply expands the information available on that particular topic—in this case a hotel brand—which is the entire purpose of this website. It's not promotional in any way. Please refrain from making arbitrary deletions Sidisuser (talk) 01:26, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Magnolia677 - do you know why all the other 'Criticisms' have been removed over the years? S8rown (talk) 11:53, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
