Compatibility
[edit]If the mainboard malfunctions the corresponding ICH RAID system will fail . To recover the data the obvious idea is to replace the mainboard with a new one. But is this possible if the old ICH version is no longer available, e.g. the old mainboard featured ICH8 and the new one has ICH9? I would be interesting to note how the different RAID versions offer compatibility to earlier and future versions. --Section6 (talk) 15:09, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

New ICH version for 6-series chipsets
[edit]The new 6-series Intel chipsets, e.g. P67 use the new "Express" controllers, which supersede the ICH10(R) controller. This is known as the "Intel® Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller" for AHCI mode or Intel® Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller for RAID mode. Intel Turbo Memory
