Misleading title?
[edit]It seems the title deals with development pre-reformation church music (this is a bit long introdcutio if the topic is hymns) and post-reformation only is occupied with the development of hymnody in Germany. I would suggest that in different languages and countries there are lot of tradition that have not been recognized, e.g. Northern Europe, but also Hungary etc. Anyone agree with me?
