Genus in quotes
[edit]Why in the article title is the genus listed in quotes? Is that because the genus is uncertain? The Wikipedia article on the genus Hylarana mentions this uncertainty and cites (poorly) a 2015 study, "Indosylvirana Oliver, Prendini, Kraus, and Raxworthy, 2015". Amphibian Species of the World: an Online Reference. Version 6.0. American Museum of Natural History. Retrieved 2019-10-05.. Which says: "Provisional treatment here (version 6.0) due to not being assigned to any of the hylaranine genera by Oliver, Prendini, Kraus, and Raxworthy, 2015, Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 90: 176–192". copy here
Has there been a more recent study that clarifies this issue? I note that other articles published after 2015 that mention Hylarana garoensisdo do not use this "Hylarana" form. See, e.g. "A Checklist of Amphibians of India with IUCN Conservation Status (updated April 2020) and Endemic and endangered fauna of North-East India: present scenario" (2022). --Bejnar (talk) 19:28, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Bejnar, it is not the genus that is uncertain, but this species' placement in it. The species has been provisionally placed in the genus Hylarana by the source given (ASW 6.0) until further phylogenetic research can be done. Then the genus placement may be either accepted (and the quotes dissappear), or placed in another (new or existing) genus. See also the "Comment" paragraph on the ASW entry page here.
