etymologic
[edit]Shouldn`t be written that (the place name) Hurst derives from anglo-saxon, meaning woodlands, wood? See Wiki Sandhurst. 79.251.88.64 (talk) 09:34, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
HURST -- "hillock" (especially a sandy one), also "grove, wooded eminence," from O.E. hyrst, from P.Gmc. *hurstiz (cf. M.Du. horst "underwood," Ger. Horst "thicket, shrubbery"). Common in place names (cf. Amherst). http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?allowed_in_frame=0&search=hurst&searchmode=none 79.251.88.64 (talk) 09:36, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
