"Hurricane Carrie was the deadliest Atlantic tropical cyclone on record to not make landfall." - Well, since this fact does not appear in the body of the article, there needs to be a citation for it here. Alternatively, you could find a different opening sentence.

Why did Carrie re-curve sharply to the northeast on September 17? Hint: you can find that answer in The Weather And Circulation Of September 1957.
