Season-by-season record

[edit]

While I like having a season-by-season table, what's was added isn't exactly complete. Since the Southern League plays in two divisions and has a split season, the overall season results column (which lists only the overall season rank within the league as a whole) seems to be less useful than would be a list of the placements in the first and second of just the Stars division.

Thoughts? Mikek999 00:39, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you mean. However, I feel that the overall ranking provides a better snapshot of how well the team did in a particular season. I mean, a team could place 1st in their division, but be in 6th overall (behind all the teams in the other division), which might distort their success during the season.
To partially counter this distortion, might I suggest showing placements in the first half, second half, and overall (in the league, not their division).
Let me point out that Baseball-reference.com and The Baseball Cube both list a team's postion in the SL, and other leagues with spilt seasons, in terms of the entire league, not just a team's division. -NatureBoyMD 03:52, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think overall league standings have validity, but so do standings within a division. The official Southern League site, for instance, lists only the latter. (See [1].) - Mikek999 17:43, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
