Is István Szabó Hungarian American or just Hungarian? Badagnani (talk) 06:26, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

No, he doesn't live in the US. Squash Racket (talk) 08:02, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
That was a mistake on the list. Bulldog123 (talk) 08:35, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Hungarian Americans

Pulitzer's biography at the Pulitzer website says Magyar-Jewish father which means he also had Magyar ancestry. Drew Barrymore's mother was the Hungarian actress Ildiko Jaid Barrymore. Squash Racket (talk) 07:55, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I've seen those. Can you show me ones where it says "Joseph Pulitzer is a Hungarian American" or "Drew Barrymore is a Hungarian American?" If you can, I'll gladly re-add them. However, your current sources justify them to be included in Category:Americans of Hungarian descent - where I believe they already are. Bulldog123 (talk) 08:04, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Joseph Pulitzer was born in Makó, Hungary and also has Hungarian ancestry. Drew Barrymore's mother is Hungarian. We can ask administrators if these two qualify for being "Hungarian American" or not if you wish.
BTW I didn't see you adding any references for the names you added. Squash Racket (talk) 08:08, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Intel founder Andrew Grove - being Hungarian Jewish who moved to the US - is included in the article about Hungarian Americans of Encarta as a notable example. Squash Racket (talk) 08:46, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah. I'll add Grove. Admins have no say, by the way. Bulldog123 (talk) 18:41, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
If Hungarian Jewish people are OK in the Encarta article, then ethnic Hungarians like Drew Barrymore and George Pataki definitely remain in the article. There are 1.5 million (!) Hungarian Americans in the US according to Encarta.
I still think admins' opinion is very interesting in these cases and will ask them next time relevant names get removed. Squash Racket (talk) 06:32, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Source

Contrary to the edit summary at this edit, the page does not simply comprise Hungarians, but also Hungarian Americans. Badagnani (talk) 06:58, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

True. I also said in the edit summary it doesn't seem to be reliable (webenetics.com or something like that). You can add names from the list, but don't add it as a source, because it's about famous Hungarians in general. Squash Racket (talk) 07:02, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
