Better Map?
Why isn't this map in the article, is there a problem with it? Seems like a better map - one glance and you know all there is to know and it's available in Commons --Pavithran (talk) 12:45, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
- It's unsourced and looks like it is an extrapolation of latitude and not actual samples. It has obvious errors - Iran, Pakistan, India, Cambodia, Burma, Thailand and Vietnam all being the same colour for instance. Likewise Bouganville (in Papua New Guinea) is often cited in research as having the population with the darkest skin colour, yet here is shown as lighter than Malaysia, Australia, southern India and central Africa. If it was from a reliable source that had an important historical or academic context (like the Van Luschan map) we could use it as an example of thinking in that context, but we can't present it as a genuine factual map of actual indigenous skin colour because it's not. - Yup. Entirely lacking evidence that it is based on any reliable source. AndyTheGrump (talk) 22:26, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
