Name

So what is the real story of the name? Several sources translate as "turn, flee", but why in the world would someone name a palace that? Since Hawaiian has many homophones, it could also mean something like "Octopus flip", or "slippery change", or any number of meanings, but wonder why any would be used for a royal house.
