Neutrality
[edit]I question the neutrality (or the well-advisedness) of this article. In particular, the last paragraph, including "He is held in the highest possible esteem by German musical authorities" is too general and sweeping, and questionable in the light of the correct information on the 'Schenkerian analysis' page, under the heading 'Schenker's goals': "Schenker's primary theoretic aims were [...] to show that most of the established music theory teaching of the time, with an emphasis on the theories of his contemporary Hugo Riemann, was misleading and useless for an understanding of the 'masterworks.'" Opinion on Riemann therefore is divided, even amongst 'German musical authorities'. Certainly Riemann's ideas of the Tonnetz are making a comeback; but more information on his harmonic theories would be useful in this context. 81.159.82.227 18:20, 12 March 2007 (UTC) Bethany Lowe
Disambiguation
[edit]Please can we have a disambiguation page at 'Riemann', as we didn't get a choice of Hugo Riemann, but just got send to the page of Bernhard Riemann! Thanks. 128.240.229.7 15:46, 2 May 2007 (UTC) Bethany Lowe (again)

I agree that it's atrocious, and have removed the fanboy tripe. Broom (talk) 02:44, 25 July 2008 (UTC) |
