Pension

[edit]

The reference says "... down to the end of the war".

Pretty unlikely he received a pension while living in the USA during WWII. Could this be instead be something like "received a pension up to the beginning of WWII" ?--Jrm2007 (talk) 23:57, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That info could use verification and better sources. I've read in a few places Hitler protected Gutmann in the 1930s, but the pension bit comes out of one book written by a somewhat minor German historian. -OberRanks (talk) 13:50, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I can see it being true that Hitler intervened -- I am just questioning the time period or the wording.--Jrm2007 (talk) 20:37, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Death date - 1962

[edit]

Based on some research, it seems pretty conclusive that he died on 22 June 1962. None of these are particularly academic sources, but the following four links seem to independently confirm it, including the photo of his grave (as "Henry G. Grant"):

Based on this, I am changing the main page.-Ich (talk) 16:27, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good research, thank you very much. I live in the St. Louis area and would very much like to research where his furniture business was and if any family lives on today. Very common name, sadly, so finding info has been difficult. -OberRanks (talk) 16:56, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I shouldn't think there would be anyone still in St, Louis, as he moved to San Diego when he changed his name. BTW I haven't checked the Find A Grave URL above, but the current (July 2018) URL is https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/88872782/henry-george-grant

Speedy delete

[edit]

I removed the speedy delete notice. Gutmann is a figure mentioned in numerous historical texts and he's been portrayed in at least two films. The article could use improvement with inline citations, but doesn't even come near to criteria for speedy deletion. -O.R.Comms 19:57, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't a speedy deletion notice, but a proposed deletion. Please read the difference between WP:CSD and WP:PROD. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:13, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
WP:BEFORE is also a good policy. -O.R.Comms 20:33, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
BEFORE is neither a policy nor a guideline nor an essay. It's instructional and yes, I did search for something passing SIGCOV before I made my nomination. WP:BCDD is an essay and one that you should have read. I would also point you to WP:REALPROBLEM. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:55, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Deleting this article would in any case be an absurdity. Surely a great majority of biographical wikipedia articles would deserve to be deleted before this one. 90.186.170.234 (talk) 07:14, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
