Possible disambiguation required?
[edit]HUGIN is also the name of a piece of specialty software used in decision support analysis (see http://www.hugin.com/ ). I stumbled on this Wikipedia page when looking for details about this software, not the panoramic photo software discussed in this article, so I'm not sure if a disambiguation page is necessary. Movens (talk) 01:04, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yes I think it's necessary. I've added to the disambiguation page and put an explanatory note at the top of the Hugin (software) page also. All that remains is to write the HUGIN page itself! My understanding is that it's more popular and established than Hugin. Mebden (talk) 17:39, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
Name origin
[edit]What is the origin of the software name "hugin"? Is it derived from a person's name, or is it an acronym? I've looked around on the Web and in the program's documentation, but haven't been able to discover anything to-date. —QuicksilverT @ 21:55, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
- I always assumed it was just a reference to how a panorama wraps around you like a hug... --TiagoTiago (talk) 15:48, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- Possibly Huginn and Muninn from Norse mythology. There's another software package called Munin for monitoring computers. --Imroy (talk) 16:46, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- According to Pablo d'Angelo it refers to one of Odin's ravens. From the program's "about" dialog (-> Upstream tab): "Last but not least, many thanks to Nils Lagerkvist for suggesting the program name, Hugin." --Einemnet (talk) 17:23, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Could someone please provide an illustration of manipulating the control points in the Hugin interface?
