"Mr. Hughes"
[edit]The usage of Mr. Hughes (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) is under discussion, see talk:Curtis Hughes -- 76.65.129.3 (talk) 04:48, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
Origins
[edit]My hunch is that the name, in one form or another, has been around in Celtic tribes since Roman times. Hugo in Germany, Hugues in France, and Huw or Hughes in Celtic Britain. Romans established the tin and copper routes across western Europe, and Celtic tribes continued it. (Ever noticed Breton and Welsh have a strong similarity.) The establishment of countries and heavily taxed trade put an end to it.220.244.84.193 (talk) 23:49, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hugo is not Celtic but obviously Germanic.Nortmannus (talk) 09:40, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
