Fish Fight
[edit]I've put the middle sentences into the past tense. The first sentence needs sorting - reads poorly and the rather irrelevant Maldives link is broken. QuakerActivist (talk) 10:03, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
Update tag
[edit]I have removed the Update tag as the issue has seemingly been resolved—I have contributed to this process and will continue to monitor events as they arise. I have also removed sections of the Talk page, as the content was not relevant or appropriate for an encyclopedic website.--Soulparadox (talk) 11:11, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
Green party
[edit]@User:SleepCovo: I'm not sure what's with the idea of tagging random celebrities with the fact that they once supported some political party. This kind of thing is surely not encyclopaedic unless they become a party official, local chairman or something of the sort. It's simply not our business to store this sort of minor detail about everyone - after all, people can change their minds. Let's not go there. Chiswick Chap (talk) 16:09, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

"Downshifted farmer"?
[edit]What is a "downshifted farmer"? This must be some sort of regional slang term, because I've certainly never heard of it. Wikipedia articles should avoid using slang or jargon, because other people won't have any idea what it means. The page it links to is on Manual transmissions, which doesn't explain the use of the word here. Using logic, I can deduce that in this context it means that he's a farmer who's "slowed down" and decided to farm just "for the fun of it", as opposed to trying to make profits (and/or he's already got plenty of money to start with, so he doesn't need to bother making more, which is what it usually comes down to). You can't rely on the reader being able to figure this kind of thing out, nor should the reader have to. Plenty of people reading Wikipedia don't speak English as a first language; what are they going to think when they see an entry about a "downshifted farmer"? You might as well say something like "double-clutching lawyer" or a "he went into kick-down". AnnaGoFast (talk) 04:32, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
