I have just completed a major cleanup of the entire article, correcting dates, misspellings, etc. Some information must still be verified. –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 18:38, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly a pro article, no critics included.andycjp (talk) 13:15, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removing dispute status as it has clearly been resolved or has died, if someone wishes to re-attach it fine, but with no talking over a year, I say it is finished, may replace with WPOV Teamtheo (talk) 18:59, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think that this article reads like a hagiography and is a far from balanced view of this particular figure. It leads with a statement that the Ven. Hua is an "important figure in the development of Western Buddhism", which is referenced to a page with dubious authority to make such a pronouncement. Almost the entire remainder of the article looks to be pulled directly from the City of 10000 Buddhas website, including a fantastical birth narrative and various other dubious claims. In fact, Hsuan Hua is not particularly well known in American Buddhism outside his own particular sect and in my view does not warrant such an expansive article at all. I removed all material that was unverifiable, uncited, or hagiographic. I also removed the Peacock language. I do not wish to disparage this teacher or his followers, but the article needed massive redaction. Hagiography is appropriate on the pages of this teacher's temple and other organizations, but not on Wikipedia. Messmer777 (talk) 09:27, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

need clarification on condolence letter from "President Bush"

[edit]

Hsuan Ha died in 1995, and the article currently indicates that the occasion was attended by a note of condolence from "President Bush". However Bill Clinton was President in 1995. The article should be clarified to state "former President Bush" (unless the condolence note came from Bill Clinton). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jwikij (talkcontribs) 14:28, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
