Stuff

[edit]

Thogo said some stuff comes from the Official Guide of the Railways (then the Travelers' Official Guide of the Railway and Steam Navigation Lines in the United States and Canada) June 1881 (he said it's okay to quote him): "

  • <Thogo> WTM: so, in 1881 the main line went from Houston to Denison with through trains to St. Louis via Vinita. Branches from Hempstead to Austin, Bremond to Ross and the Texas Central RY from Ross to Mount Airy. ;)
  • [18:34] <WhisperToMe> Wow
  • [18:34] <WhisperToMe> That's pretty cool
  • [...]
  • [18:35] <WhisperToMe> I found from the Handbook that the Houston and Texas Central Railway had acquired several of the branches
  • [...]
  • [18:37] <Thogo> WhisperToMe: and on all lines they had two trains one of which did not run on Sundays. One mixed and one "express" on the branches and two "expresses" on the main line. ^^

" This could help future expansion. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:20, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Original charter

[edit]

This sentence gives some detail about the original charter which does not seem helpful for the article: "Ebenezer Allen, a man from Galveston, Texas, obtained the charter to establish a railroad company on March 11, 1848. A series of meetings about the establishment of the company occurred in Chappell Hill and Houston. In 1852, the Galveston and Red River Railway (G&RR) company became active."

I would condense this to, "Originally chartered in 1848 as the Galveston and Red River Railway, the Houston and Texas Central Railroad assumed the charter and...[incorporate into the next paragraph]" Any objections to making such a change? Cheers, Oldsanfelipe (talk) 04:36, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
