Some of the content of this article has been taken from an article created by Andyjbarrick, located at housing benefit with a small 'b', which was submitted while I was creating and previewing this article. So I didn't notice it at the time - but I have now replaced it with a redirect to this article Housing Benefit. Squashy 09:52, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Major edit
[edit]I have completely rewritten this to take into account older forms of rent restrictions for Private Tenants, the application of applicable amounts and how to apply for a DHP. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seanosul (talk • contribs) 18:35, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Picto
[edit]I've added a photograph and moved the history section about. - FrancisTyers · 14:47, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
Minimum deductions
[edit]I have changed the overpayments section to read that £8.70 per week is a minimum deduction, as it can be more than this depending upon income.
I have corrected this, these levels are the MAXIMUM recovery levels from ongoing Benefit. I have also removed some incorrect information regarding recovery from landlords. - Just tagging with my Username - *Drem* 00:04, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Update
[edit]I'll try and get round to updating this page to correct a number of things that are wrong with it. I'll also try to add some links to legislation and Case Law if I can dig them out - Just tagging with my Username - *Drem* 00:04, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
PTD
[edit]Pre-Tenancy Determinations are no longer in use in Scotland (not sure about the rest of the UK), due to the introduction of LHA. The claimant would fill in a normal Housing Benefit form instead. ← κεηηε∂γ (talk) (secret) 08:50, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Update on this as i get further info from my employers, the applicant would not fill in a normal benefit application form, there is now a seperate one for private benefits. I cant update this as i dont know enough about it, but i can check details for any editor if required. ← κεηηε∂γ (shout at me) 15:20, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
History
[edit]The history section isn't much use. It certainly doesn't tell me when housing benefit was first introduced, by which government or through which bill. Perhaps that information is hidden somewhere in the rest of the article, though I didn't see it 86.169.220.8 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:56, 5 April 2012 (UTC).
No citations
[edit]This article is almost completely unsourced. The whole thing should really be deleted - who knows if any of it is accurate. ---Asteuartw (talk) 16:36, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
Much is accurate but much also isn't -- I am adding citations and updating text Wsm1 (talk) 12:31, 10 July 2014 (UTC)Wsm1 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wsm1 (talk • contribs) 12:29, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Council Tax Benefit
[edit]Why is Council Tax Benefit a redirect to an already over long and complicated page?Leutha (talk) 11:19, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
No DSS - incorrect
[edit]My understanding off the origin of the 'No DSS' is because of the undesirable nature of tenants often attracted when DSS payments are accepted rather than the lateness of receiving the first payment.
It's a generalisation, but DSS claimants are typically in the lower social order and have a reputation for not looking after properties etc. My understanding this is why adverts for properties typically say 'No DSS', I had never heard of this other reason before reading this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.27.24.15 (talk) 19:14, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Possible updates
How much of the text as it currently appears is derived from official sources? Should there not at least be a mention of the proposals to cap housing benefit, and assessments of their intended and possible effects? Not least on 'housing providers' and provision? Not least the use of housing benefit to enforce the general benefits cap(s)?81.158.101.97 (talk) 08:56, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
