Family tree

[edit]

The family tree should be modified. I don't know how to go about it.

Firstly, in the early generation, the paternal ancestors should be removed or maybe connected with a dotted line to indicate that it is one of the hypotheses yet to be confirmed. See article on Gonzalo Núñez de Lara where I tried to explain the various hypotheses and added several references. Two heavy-weight historians, Martínez Díez and Estepa Díez do not agree with Margarita Torres' proposed filiation. Although Sánchez de Mora believes that it is the one closest to the truth, he still harbors doubts since documentary proof is lacking.

Secondly, the Manriques do not descend from Manrique Pérez de Lara via Pedro Manrique de Lara > Gonzalo Pérez Manrique de Lara (no Manrique should be added to the surname). The Manriques come from the marriage of Gómez González de Manzanedo and Milia Pérez de Lara, daughter of Manrique Pérez de Lara, mentioned above. This couple were the parents of Manrique Gómez de Manzanedo married to Toda Vélaz, whose son Rui (or Rodrigo) was the first lord of Amusco. Salazar y Castro is to be blamed for this confusion as explained in the article on Gonzalo Núñez de Lara. I could fix the text, expanding and adding refs. --Maragm (talk) 22:04, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
