Dr. Chaos Originally a Tie-In or Inspired By the 1986 Film 'House'?

[edit]

Any hope to discover documents or other reference material from developers that this NES game was in fact going to be a movie tie-in or inspired by the 1986 film, 'House'?

It seems clear it is, here are the many points of similarity to theorize:

1) Many characters in the game are similar to those in the movie. (Big Lady, Franken (the big skeleton man with exposed rib cage and what appears to be a helmet and the Flying Skeleton in the warp zone in the game vs. the main character's ex-wife demon, his dead war buddy (with exposed rib cage and helmet) and the flying skeleton in the mirror in the movie.)

2) Discovering routes to an alternative world (i.e. warp zone) in closets and mirrors vs. routes to an alternative world (i.e. Nam) in closets and mirrors.)

3) Warp zones are mostly jungles vs. the jungles of Nam.

There may be more and I do know that there are many other things that are not related to the film, but maybe they ended up changing it in the end since they either didn't get the license or if it were inspired by, to take it into a new direction because of liability, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.181.160.76 (talk) 23:42, 18 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation issues

[edit]

Two independent versions were created, differently Dab'd. The proper title for the article on the 1986 film depends on whether any other films titled House have articles. A Google search of WP, and a WP search, each suggest that there is not yet another such article, so for the time being, House (film) is the correct title.

The remaining sections of this talk page concern the content and history of the article on the topic of the 1986 House. But some of the research done so far is relevant to the future content of House (film) as a Dab page, once there is need for Dab'n among multiple articles on films titled House. That research is embodied on Talk:House (film)/Future Dab, which should be renamed to Talk:House (film) if and when House (film) becomes a Dab.

Fair use rationale for Image:Housefilmposter.jpg

[edit]

Image:Housefilmposter.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merger proposal

[edit]

Do not care for that also know as this is house three the horror show so again the whole series needs requires to be on one page so merge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.124.201.66 (talk) 20:10, October 13, 2020 (UTC)

  • I'm posting this here, more as a response to the IP address that posted this rationale (and similar notes) on the other pages in the series: House II: The Second Story, The Horror Show, and House IV. Essentially, they want to have all of the films on one article rather than individual ones. This is extremely unlikely to ever be approved since they all appear to more or less be individually notable. The fourth film's page needs to be improved, but it's not inherently non-notable. I do think that a single page that goes over all four films is potentially doable, so that should be the solution rather than merging this all into a single article. The catch would be that we'd have to be able to show that it would be more than just a list of the films, something that's already done by the footer template. I may try to whip up a draft myself to see what can be done. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 04:29, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
