Eponymous?

[edit]

I'm trying to figure out what the word "eponymous" conveys in the opening of this article.

Does it simply mean the stadium is "named after somebody called Houphouët-Boigny"? Or does it mean more than this?

Thanks, Wanderer57 (talk) 16:30, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lack an article? Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny has existed for quite some time... and this article should be merged/redirected to it. -- Chuq (talk) 04:56, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FIFA ban or sanction?

[edit]

Is there a FIFA ban or sanction on the table for CIV as a result of this? It would seem that a ban from this year's World Cup or at least a token ban from the African Cup of Nations would be possible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.98.0.187 (talk) 20:53, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Houphouët-Boigny Arena stampede2009 Houphouët-Boigny Arena stampede – - The name of this page has become outdated and confusing, due to current and recent events. In light of the 2012 Houphouët-Boigny stampede, which took place in the same stadium, it is only appropriate that this page be renamed, in order to accomodate the additional incidents, in order to avoid confusion. Number of fatalities

[edit]

The number of fatalities reported varies between 19 and 22 between the sources. Which number is correct? --LukeSurl t c 17:37, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
