Too Long

Because the article is so gosh darn long, why not move the huge history of Hot Wheels section into an entirely different article. You'd be left with two acceptably smaller articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iokerapid (talkcontribs) 17:20, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

I think it is toooooooooooooooooooooooo long too!!!!

Original Research and Stuff

This article is, in my opinion, crammed to the gills with original research and more worringly, unverifiable stuff about real people and lawsuits. Not with the good. Lots42 (talk) 08:10, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

I removed the unverified unsourced stuff about the online price guide; Wikipedia policy demands that iffy, negative stuff without sources be removed first. Better safe then sorry. Verified stuff can always be restored later. I also removed the confusing 'online' section, it had no actual indication of what website it was talking about. And some of it was fancruft anyway. Lots42 (talk) 08:15, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Having read the Wikipedia article on Wiki Etiquette on Conflicts of Interests (after having been prompted to do by another member here) I wanted to ask here to put up a link to a section of a site I am responsible for. I had wanted to link to this this article on ToyPedia that is trying to catalogue every one of the 60,000 Hot Wheels variants produced today. The first 1,800 variants are entered. The site is using a media wiki for this and is, I believe, extremely relevant for this wiki page. It is a unique resource, follows Wiki principles and complements this page with a detail that Wikipedia will not want to have. ToyPedia is an open wiki with a substantial number of expert editors. LaToya Giocattola (talk) 17:21, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

This would be an extremely valuable resource. Baskingshark (talk) 20:51, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Baskingshark for your support. It seems that Piano non troppo who initialy removed the link and asked for the discussion here has changed his mind or at least weakened his opposition. Would be good to hear from others. LaToya Giocattola (talk) 22:46, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

I would like to know how the site actually qualifies as a resource. If you look at the page for Hot Wheels there is nothing more than a minimal description that does not give anything more than what the article already has which is a problem per WP:EL. If you click on any links within the site, say 1968 there is absolutely no content at all. If you click on individual cars like Custom Cougar, the content is minimal. Many of the pages have been created recently I might add, which violates WP:EL as "Links to open wikis, except those with a substantial history of stability and a substantial number of editors." At this point, the pages at the site have minimal to no content. When it does achieve some level of content and stability, adding it should not be a problem. TastyPoutine talk (if you dare) 16:54, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
TastyPoutine, those are fair points. Images will be added shortly and there are more Hot Wheels models and information on the models added. Stability should not be so much of a problem since Hot Wheels is a relatively uncontentious issue. I will wait for that before adding the link again. LaToya Giocattola (talk) 21:37, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

I am one of the founders of the ToyPedia project. ToyPedia is attempting to catalogue every toy/model ever made, we estimate it will have 100 million entries when getting closer to being finished. We further believe that ToyPedia is a natural extension to Wikipedia, in the case of Hot Wheels, Wikipedia has one page on them, we will have more than 68,000 to cover all of their different models and variations. I wanted to add a link at the link section but am obviously conflicted and therefore thought it best to check with folks here (I then saw taht this subject was already discussed in he past). That being said there is now much more data in our Hot Wheels section. Joschik (talk) 16:21, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Plastic bodies

Casual observation suggests these are becoming more common - when were they introduced? Shythylacine (talk) 23:52, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Almost all files in this article nominated for deletion

Hello, this is just a heads up to inform you that all files used in this article bar two have been nominated for deletion at PUF by myself. You can see my rationale and add your input on the nomination pages, which can be found here. Thanks, Acather96 (talk) 19:30, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Think it's worth including a section on the Video Racer?

Hot Wheels recently released a Video Racer. It's a car with a video camera inside. Worth including? This is the page on the Hot Wheels website about the Video Racer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.181.160.60 (talk) 21:26, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

I think it would be worth it.

Hi! I am adding a new external link. The link that is there already will not work. Thanks, E-e-bayer lover (talk) 20:41, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi-Jackers.

There's no mention of this series. They had the rear axle mounted to a hinged plastic block which could be snapped into three different heights. The locking bumps would wear to where the block would not stay in the lower positions to keep the rear of the toy 'jacked up'. I had one of them when I was a kid, don't recall the year the series was produced. Bizzybody (talk) 10:52, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

Track sets

I made mention of the track sets, since I didn't see mention of this already in the article (unless I missed it), I thought it worth including, since this was a huge part of the Hot Wheels "experience". Someone may want to relocate it and/or expand on what I wrote, if it isn't sufficient. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.174.110.14 (talk) 20:34, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
