Discussion
Horse slaughter seems to be a growing sensitive topic among all of us. Our views typically come from the nature of our backgrounds. The United States had three plants opened, slaughtering horses for their meat and then shipping the meat to foreign countries. Even though we had slaughter plants it was still illegal to consume in the United States. In 2007 these slaughter plants were shut down due to inhumane treatment and lack of following regulations. There has been debate on whether the United States should open slaughter plants again. The difference of slaughtering horses then cows or pigs, is that, horses have always been viewed as a companion and not livestock. Every year the BLM round up wild horses and sell them overseas. This industry should not be allowed to start up again, it is already an industry that is growing rapidly. The more it grows the more “okay” it is to treat these beautiful creatures inhumanly. -Keanna Anderson — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.9.102.5 (talk) 19:52, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
Not much seems to have happened to this article in a long while, even with the low standards on it. Also no facts are included with many
of the claims made in the introduction part. It is very biased, and mostly takes up negative views of horse slaughter without good references.
I would suggest removing claims that are biased without a good fact base. NumbatOne (talk) 07:49, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- It remains a mess because no one wants to fight the hyperemotional edit wars that inevitably occur when anyone does anything constructive. WikiProject Equine members are not touching this with a 10-foot pole (we only have about 2000 or so other articles in our project to work on...). So if you can gather a group of willing NPOV editors with the skin of Rhinos, we will applaud any work someone wants to do to improve the article. Montanabw(talk) 17:53, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Looks like no one has done any serious updating of this article since 2007. Activist (talk) 03:30, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
- It also seems to duplicate, although less well, the rather less emotionally charged article on Horse meat Paulatthehug (talk) 10:34, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
