Fair use image
[edit]Just to keep track of things, I opened up a question about adding a non-free image under "fair use" at this link.--CaroleHenson (talk) 06:44, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Horace Pippin in the public domain?
[edit]Considering Pippin died in 1946, is his work in the public domain? — Preceding unsigned comment added by GabrielGGD (talk • contribs) 16:08, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

Citation needed in lead
[edit]It looks like some claims in the lead paragraph are not thoroughly cited. The first sentence asserting Pippin's status as the most successful African-American artist of the 1940s is not supported by the source that follows it which says, "He is acclaimed to be one of America's best primitive artists".[1] Is there a better source for this or should it be removed? --Meierblue (talk) 19:49, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
- It's been deleted. To call somebody "arguably the most" anything is an expression of opinion, and opinion generally does not belong in the lead sentence of an article. With a source it could go back in an appropriate section. Ewulp (talk) 03:08, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
Correction for End of War
[edit]The line: "His first oil painting,The Ending of the War, Starting Home, depicts a military engagement resembling the assault on Sechault, in which he was wounded and his regiment was decimated." is incorrect. This picture depicts the cease-fire on November 11. At that time Pippin would have been recovering in a hospital after his arm was shot in October.Meierblue (talk) 13:55, 4 May 2020 (UTC)Meierblue
