Kingsnorth dates & info

[edit]

"Construction was begun in 1948 with a completion and start up date scheduled for 1952, but the site was flooded in its first week when the sea wall was breached." I've removed this sentence from the article, as it is unreferenced while I have a CEGB publication on Kingsnorth giving the dates of 1963 and 1967. HOWEVER, the earlier writer must have got their information somewhere, esp detail about flooding, so I'd welcome anyone who can clarify this and perhaps reinstate the bit about flooding. Answered my own Q: earlier writer had conflated Kingsnorth power station with BP oil refinery!

I'm interested to see where this article has now got to. Some months ago I was embroiled in a discussion about the Isle of Grain vis-a-vis the Peninsula. Dozens of changes seem to have occurred since then ... I hope it is all worth it for such a small part of the UK!!! Peter Shearan 16:29, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not worth a large article (despite its strategic importance - previously for defence, now for serving London), but certainly worth getting right! Besides, if you think the peninsula is insignificant, check out Emmett, Texas, Durango, Iowa and Centerville, Maine. My personal favourite, Township_157-30,_Minnesota, is surely notable for its non-notability! Thanks for looking over the articles I've been fiddling with, btw: it's always good to have a fresh eye check if changes make sense.

Flag

[edit]

User:OtterRatWiki added an image of a flag design to the infobox (that they had uploaded to commons) in this edit [1] with a caption stating 'Hoo Peninsula Flag'. I removed it in this edit [2] as I had found no evidence that it had any status as a flag for the peninsular. I found no mention of it by the College of Arms or Flag Institute. It was replaced in this edit [3] with the summary 'This could be seen as an insult to the community'. Hoo Peninsula is part of Medway. Should an unofficial design of flag or any flag be displayed in the article?SovalValtos (talk) 22:58, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the flag, pending a reference that it is in some way official. Ttwaring (talk) 17:02, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
A reference has been added, but it's more "here is how to create a community flag" than any evidence that the Hoo Peninsula flag is not WP:MADEUP or one person's project. Ttwaring (talk) 18:19, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe User:OtterRatWiki could respond in more detail here. Ttwaring (talk) 18:24, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
