A century ago?

[edit]

When was this section of this article written? According to it, Honour Killing stopped in West Bengal "a century ago". It needs to be specific. 2A02:C7C:B459:F500:A503:8381:C2C3:C977 (talk) 22:18, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Anecdotal removal

[edit]

@Belbury, why should the anecdote be removed? ShawarmaFan07 (talk) 13:10, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This one? It's from a source that's talking about 100 cases in a year. Why go into detail about one arbitrary and anonymous case from that? Belbury (talk) 13:29, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is useful for readers to understand how shocking it is to be a victim of this horrible crime in which the perpetrator is female. Much like how it is shocking that a male victim can be subjected to HBV. ShawarmaFan07 (talk) 14:02, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think we need to make an extra effort to shock the reader here, they will understand that a woman killing somebody is bad. Belbury (talk) 14:13, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This wouldn't shock the reader. Of course they will know a woman committing crimes is bad. But "Honour abuse" came a cross a rather naive term, not only it is just limited to specific communities, but people will have thoughts of just a man targeting the woman/girl of the family, and would hardly believe vice versa. So it is good to show readers to educate them about how female perpetrators can be just as devastating. Honour abuse is also usually associated with patriarchal ideologies, in which the man would be in control and not the woman. With the woman being victimised.
