(Un)availability
[edit]It would be nice if the Civic NGV was available. I waited for an NGV for 7 months from Aug 2011 until I gave up in Feb 2012. With limited production, it's no wonder the vehicle is hard to get. And because of the demand the price is higher. From Acmefixer (at) yahoo.com--208.127.16.41 (talk) 15:19, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

[edit]I am recording the fuel efficiency of a Honda Civic GX 2004 on Google spreadsheets. You can view it at http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p8OdmxyNdMFt5EIXSXbCkQw. 67.161.242.156 01:56, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
Incorrect statement about natural gas
[edit]The following statement is in the Performance section of the article:
"Without hydrocarbon fuel (gasoline/diesel/etc) there are no carbon deposits in the engine, eliminating the need for valve jobs and greatly reducing cylinder and ring wear."
This is incorrect because natural gas is composed of hydrocarbon fuels (methane, etc.). I would remove the statement except I do not know if the second part is true or not when it states that cylinder and ring wear are reduced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.177.217.38 (talk) 04:15, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- Natural gas leaves no unburned deposits (soot) in IC engines. The exhaust is simple CO2 & water. That's why nat-gas it's so popular with industrial users such as generators, compressors and fork-lift trucks. The engines run relatively clean. The statement should refer to "unburned hydrocarbons" rather than "hydrocarbon fuel". Gasoline leaves nitrogen, oxygen, and sulphur compounds in the exhaust, all of which collect in the oil and shorten the life of the gasoline engine compared to the natural gas engine. Leaded fuels also contaminate I/C engines and shorten engine life. Nat-gas is about on a par with clean diesel for emissions and reliability, but doesn't require the complicated fuel injection or emissions controls of the diesel/gasoline engines. Fire risk versus explosion risk
[edit]The article says that from the "fire" risk that CNG is much lower. Does anyone know if "fire risk" is synonymous with "explosion risk?" Seems like at 3600psi the risk of explosion is enormous. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.223.226.6 (talk) 17:05, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- Regardless of "fire" or "explosion", natural gas is lighter than air and rises when released. So the risk of ground-level fire (like with gasoline or propane) is minimal from a tank leak. It burns briefly and then goes out. The real nat-gas danger is from broken pipelines when the gas continues to feed the fire. Lots of pipeline explosion videos on YouTube. Controversy edit
[edit]IMPCO intends to start selling Phills again within a few months. Once that starts I'd like to remove the sentence about Honda sending FuelMaker into bankruptcy from the controversy section. Any objections?

- Objection: What's interesting about Fuelmaker is that Honda USA (the owner of Fuelmaker) forced its own Canadian subsidiary into bankruptcy after restricting the number of CNG Hondas available for sale. There's more to this story. Santamoly (talk) 16:58, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Re-title article? The Honda Civic GX recently renamed the Civic NG.
[edit]Re-title article? The Honda Civic GX recently renamed the Civic NG. At least mention the new name here, add a re-direct.
