Marx
[edit]Marx does not use the phrase "homo faber" in the passage cited (and the second link doesn't work). I have searched the Marxist Archive and can find no reference to it by him. This seems to be an imputation by unrelated theorists at a later date. If so, they should be cited, but regardless I question the relevance of Marx to this article.--Jack Upland (talk) 08:56, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Incorrect translation
[edit]The given translation from the Latin phrase seems designed to obscure its meaning. Would the simpler "Each man is the architect of his own fortune" be preferable? "Artifex," itself a Latin word, seems more like a typo than an intentional translation, and if this page is to be taken seriously it would be sensible to start out on a firmer footing than this.
