Meaning of Name in English

[edit]

Does anyone know what the name of this place translates into English?

See article. Eugène van der Pijll 22:15, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, actually.
It stands short for
Hol(land), the province it is in (North-Holland)
Y -> Is a way of spelling the ij, which refers to the nearby Lake (Ij-Meer)
Sloot which is what is already said in the article. Ditch is a way to translate it.
Unfortunately I have no sources, apart from that's how the locals know it. 2A02:A464:3639:1:C8C2:3445:DE83:18CC (talk) 21:19, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
