Lyotropic series

The term 'lyotropic series' appears to be a very similar or identical concept as described here <http://www.pals.iastate.edu/agron154/Agron_154/Unit_17/terms.htm#72> for example.

The term is also used in connection with the Hofmeister series in a letter to Nature: <http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v139/n3511/abs/139284a0.html>

The two terms are almost synonymous. However, I think a lyotropic series is the broader term, with the Hofmeister series being an example of the lyotropic series of ions in water, with other lyotropic series being possible in different solvents. Tim Vickers (talk) 22:35, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
