"Continuing evocative potency"
[edit]Wilson's use of the phrase "the Slave Power" in the title — a reference to the power of the slaveholding class in the American South — reflects that term's continuing evocative potency in the decade after the end of the Civil War. I'm inclined to agree with this statement, but as it's an unsourced interpretive comment, I'm removing it from the article.
