[edit]It's about time someone did this article. As much as I dislike the current version of the Lakers, their history is well worth its own page. Great job! Dknights411 00:50, August 20, 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'd noticed that the "Team History" section of the Lakers article had been blank for a while, so I went ahead and put this together. I'll go back and add some images at a later time. Hope you don't mind the edits I did on that page too. --Howcheng 06:15, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
I agree. Big props for creating this article, and also to the people, including myself, who have improved it as well. I've read many books on the Lakers' history but this one is right up there ;) keep it up guys. MCDRLx 08:01, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:MinneapolisLakers.gif
[edit]Image:MinneapolisLakers.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:13, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
The 07-08 Season is "overly" overdone
[edit]Dude, you gotta be kiddin me about that section. Nearly every one of their playoff games are overly detailed. We gotta cut it down. It was just one half of a season. Crackdahack (talk) 12:25, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed. The playoff info is basically a cut and copy of from the 2007-08 season article and the 2008 NBA Finals article. The majority of it can simply be deleted. A little bit of info about the current season should maybe be added also. --Ted87 (talk) 06:15, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Also: Do we need these ridiculous section headlines. "A new sheriff in town" or whatever? I don't see the purpose. This isn't a book. You don't give heading little witty chapters on wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AntiangelicAngel (talk • contribs) 00:49, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Lakers logo
[edit]The image Image:LA Lakers logo.svg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
The following images also have this problem:

2016-present: Post-Bryant era
[edit]ok, I really think it shouldn't be called Post-Bryant era because really if you think about it the Post Bryant era started in 2013 when he injured his achilles on April 12th, 2013, he wasn't the same after that, the Bryant/Gasol duo was over, and ever since then the Lakers had Management problems, The era started 3 years late, I think it should be "The Young Core" and Arrival of LeBron James. — Preceding unsigned comment added by The Speller (talk • contribs) 21:30, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
I think we should change the name of it The Speller (talk) 14:42, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
Can we change it please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by The Speller (talk • contribs) 17:01, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
- The last season wasn't notable. Lonzo and Kuzma played one season, Ingram missed a lot of games, and LeBron hasn't played one game yet. "The Young Core" is not an official nickname. Almost every NBA team has a young core. This is WP:CRYSTAL. --Walk Like an Egyptian (talk) 18:59, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
The Post Bryant era started three years too late, this is the start of the LeBron James era — Preceding unsigned comment added by The Speller (talk • contribs) 02:06, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
- I suggest you discuss this at WT:NBA instead so you can get more responses. --Walk Like an Egyptian (talk) 04:04, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

History
[edit]Update the headers up to date. 2019-present Rich 0144 (talk) 18:25, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
Update the header! It's the got damn 2019-present. Dumb as hell to still have Post Kobe still as ongoing while the Lakers are 1st seed and are title contenders. Y'all are narrow minded. And Kobe Bryant passed away in January. Rich 0144 (talk) 02:51, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
