Missing Information
[edit]This reads like a promotion of nursing in the US. It needs the addition of milestones in the development of a health care system like establishment of the NIH, health insurance, Medicare, etc., in order to make it match the title. I came looking for this and the article did not meet my needs. Pkeets (talk) 15:18, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
- I disagree. Pharmacology (i.e. Modern Medicine / Biomedicine) is distinctively different than healthcare systems and existed well before their development in the early 20th century. What I do believe is missing is a detailed review on botanicals, herbs and spices utilized as medicine prior to their eradication following the development of the Flexner Report. Also missing is the development of vaccinations, and different classifications of drugs as they were developed throughout the 1900s. What should also be considered are alternative therapies to the management of symptoms and disease alongside the actual scientific data that justified biomedicine as being supreme to osteopathic/herbal approaches. Additional topics to consider include the governing bodies assigned to monitor medicine, its development, its efficacy, a list of major companies responsible for its research, and the financial impact prescriptions have on Americans today. 63.131.198.216 (talk) 14:11, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
