Tagging for references/original research

[edit]

Hello! I just wanted to let you know that after reading a fair amount of it, I think your article is a fantastic source of information. As a long-time editor myself however, I have to tell you that I think you need some more references in the first half of the article. References and links are very important on Wikipedia, since they prove that your article is verifiable.

Wikipedia stresses verifiable research. Specifically, what Wikipedia calls verifiability means that other people using the encyclopedia can check that the information comes from a reliable source. Wikipedia does not publish original research. For more information on just exactly why those are so important, check out the links.

In addition, there are many sections in the first half of this article where there are no links to other articles. Links engage with the reader and encourage more and deeper research - and we want to get the reader more interested in our subject, right?

If you don't know what to link to, sometimes just searching Wikipedia for terms in your article can help. For instance, there are articles on the Wisconsin glaciation and New Netherland, which are topics mentioned right in the beginning.

This is a solid article, and once the facts become verified, I'd say it's truly a great one. Happy editing :)
