New category
[edit]I have created a new category called Category:History of Omaha. - Freechild 23:04, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Info to add
[edit]From an article about streetcars: Omaha - Horse traction, 1868 - ?. Cable traction, 29 December 1887 - 7 July 1890. Electric traction, ? - 1955. Tramway system served Omaha and Council Bluffs, IA. - Freechild 22:59, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
etymology
[edit]The article states that "The word "Omaha" (actually U-Mo'n-Ho'n) means "Dwellers on the Bluff"." In what language? --Krsont 13:17, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- The word Omaha comes from Omaha-Ponca "Umoⁿhoⁿ", but the meaning of "dwellers on the bluff" is dubious, it likely means upstream people. Raccoonny (talk) 07:17, 17 September 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Two thoughts: One, is that according to Wikipedia:SEEALSO#See also section, "whether a link belongs in the 'See also' section is ultimately a matter of editorial judgment and common sense." My second thought is to thank you for asking me to clarify via the talk page and avoiding an edit war - I appreciate that. Ultimately, I'm for leaving everything that's there, but as a compromise I'll remove the categories. • Freechild'sup? 05:34, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I don't want to get into a contest with you over this, and such a compromise seems fine to me. Trust me, I looked around (not just at WP:SEEALSO) to see what other good articles had--and I hope you understand I was a bit miffed at the "RVV" comment. But while I have you, there is no doubt that these Omaha-articles would have been much worse if it hadn't been for your hard work. I'll copy this on your talk page also, since I intend it as a compliment for all to see. ;) Drmies (talk) 14:27, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
