This article

[edit]

This article was started as a result of discussions held at Talk:Eclipse Aviation#Article length. A number of well-respected aviation experts (quoted in the article itself) have indicated that this story is an important one in the history of aviation and may even be, as J. Mac McClellan states "the biggest disaster in memory for GA..."

Personally I believe that while this article is on the long side that most of the details are required here. It is just not possible to do justice to this complex story in a few paragraphs. As the story continues to unfold there may be some aspects of this article that should be cut, while others may need to be added. Therefore I would ask that any editors who are considering major cuts to portions of the article please discuss here first. - Ahunt (talk) 19:51, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Quote farm tagging

[edit]

An editor has tagged the article as having too many quotes. I have analysed the word count and found that quotes account for 17% of the article at present. I have reviewed the article to see if these can be reduced and while some could be summarized or cut down, I feel that in general the vast majority are justified because of the nature of the article subject, which is, in the words of Paul Bertorelli, a story of "hubris, out-of-control costs, inappropriate technology and just ordinary mismanagement". The essay cited in the tag (not policy or even guideline) is Wikipedia:Quotations, and having reviewed it I do not believe the current state of this article offends the essay's advice, but I would like to gain the opinions of other editors on this subject. - Ahunt (talk) 11:58, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Since a week has passed with no comments or objections I will remove the tag. - Ahunt (talk) 14:52, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Improve Timeline Structure

[edit]

Having headings by month for each year might improve the structure of the article.
