Something not right

Can anyone explain how this statement is factual: "After the 1885 Northwest Rebellion was put down, settlers began to pour into Alberta. The closing of the American frontier around 1890 led 600,000 Americans to move to Saskatchewan and Alberta, where the farming frontier flourished 1897-1914.[17]" When census data for Alberta show the population in 1914 to be under 200k? Expanding the article

I'm interested in greatly expanding this article. A rough outline is what I have in mind:

1. pre-european settlement(until 1871)
2. European Settlement before 1905(1871 - 1905)
3. post 1905 growth (1905- 1920)
4. The rise of prairie populism(1920-1935)
5. Social Credit(1935-1947)
6. The discovery of oil(1947 - 1972)
7. Loughheed's conservatives(1972 -1982)
8. Crash of the 80's(1982-1992)
9. The Klein Era(1992-2006)
10. Recent Developments(2006 - now)

Major themes: I believe there are two major themes to explore when addressing Alberta history 1) The relationship with Ottawa and Alberta's divergent political views that have arisen 2) Alberta's economic strength

Other subtopics that should be covered:

• Aboriginal wars (territorial dominance of different tribes (Cree, Blackfoot, Dene/Chipewyan) before colonisation, relation with fur traders)
• Exporers (such as Alexander MacKenzie, Peter Pond, David Thompson) and their travels through Alberta (Canadian Rockies passes, travel along rivers, Hudson Bay Company trading posts)
• North West Mounted Police/RCMP history in the province, including whisky trade, forts built.
• first european communities established (Fort Vermilion, Fort Chipewyan), first colonies in what turned into major cities.
• Railway period (northern route promises and the settlement of the Edmonton area, southern route reality and the growth of railway prairie towns, subsequent compensation of Edmonton).

• I don't think that a page about the history of Alberta should totally avoid the Eugenics Movement. Its an important and often overlooked piece of our history. Many errors in the later history segment, in respect to petroleum history. Please refer to Wiki petroleum history articles for at least some useful information. Bibliography

A serious guide to the history of Alberta needs a bibliography--this one is based on the 24-page annotated bibliography in Palmer, Alberta: A New History" and the Encyclopedia of Alberta (2007). Calling it all "crap" shows a disdain for serious RS upon which Wikipedia must be based. Rjensen (talk) 16:52, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Actually is was move to its own page. We have no need to list ever book on the History of Alberta on this page (we are not a book store). It has been moved to its own page as per the norm when we have a Bibliography that is bigger then the actual article.Moxy (talk) 17:02, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

We have a need for a short selected bibliography so users know what research is available to study. Policy has to be discussed not imposed by brute force. Moxy seems to think that it tried to "list ever book" which is totally false and a serious misunderstanding of what RS are all about. (it a small selection from the Palmer book) The problem is perhaps his suggestion that guides to the best books are all "crap" and books only belong in a "book store". Not sure what your problem is ..is on its own page nothing deleted. As per the norm see Bibliography of Canadian history and Bibliography of British Columbia. It is crap to simply list books without even tiring to help articles. Best also to list all the info needed to find this books like publishers and ISBN numbers. Again not sure you saw that is was all moved, best to look before speaking. I have listed a few books that can actually be read by our readers and not simply a shopping list.
