Note to anyone intending on splitting off a section

[edit]

This page has been processed by N-Bot, which, for browsing convenience, changes links to redirects to lists to links to the relevant list sections: e.g. [[Lobsang Ludd]] is changed to [[History Monks#Lobsang Ludd|Lobsang Ludd]].

As a result, anyone who intends to split a section out of this page should be aware that, as of 9 August 2005, the following sections were linked to from the following pages:

I Ching, not "when".

[edit]
'Wen the Eternally Surprised. The founder of the order, and the writer of the History Books. Wen was the first person to fully grasp the nature of time, and is involved in a relationship with the personification of Time. He could be likened to the Buddha, and his name could be a play on "when".'

The last sentence seems to me un-necessarily far-fetched, when (if you will excuse the pun) there is a much simpler explanation: King Wen, the creator of the I Ching. -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. 13:31, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is Wikipedia now a list of people's opinions?

[edit]
"Marco Soto. ... He is named after a Discworld fan who won a charity auction to appear as a cameo character. More ironic if perceived as a parody of Marco Polo, who was one of the first Westerners to visit the East, and the Zen sect of Soto." (emphasis mine)

Is this really appropriate information for an encyclopaedia article? If no-one defends it, I'm removing it.

Yen Buddhists

[edit]

I find this group incredibly suspicious, and do not believe that they exist within Discworld. If I am wring, please readd the section, prefereably with a source or two. -- saberwyn 07:34, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

this is very true indeed thaks u —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.201.241.25 (talk) 12:59, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yen buddhism exists on the Disc, albeit only in the form of a few footnotes. "The Yen Buddhists are the richest religious sect in the universe. They hold that the accumulation of money is a great evil and a burden to the soul. They therefore, regardless of personal hazard, see it as their unpleasant duty to acquire as much as possible in order to reduce the risk to innocent people. -- (Terry Pratchett, Witches Abroad)" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.242.204.164 (talk) 22:08, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Other Characters

[edit]
"Technically though, in Pinyin his name would be pronounced chu.": Is interpretation in pinyin at all appropriate here? It's odd - and out of place - to apply this "technical" note only here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.218.63.57 (talk) 00:19, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
