[edit]Should "Hiroo" be replaced with "Hirō"? Peachypoh (talk) 13:49, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- I think that "Hiroo" is OK as it is for two reasons. (1) As far as I can see, Hiroo is a three-syllabled name, as the last "o" is often clearly pronounced as one syllable. In fact, Tokyo Metro spells Hiroo Station as Hiro-o Sta while it spells Ningyōchō Station (人 Nin + 形 gyō + 町 chō) as Ningyocho Sta, which implies that Tokyo Metro at least recognizes that the two o's in Hiroo are pronounced separately. (2) The two o's belong to different kanjis (広 Hiro + 尾 o). Two similar examples of such case are Kii Peninsula (紀 Ki + 伊 i) and Ii Naosuke (井 I + 伊 i). --Occhanikov (talk) 12:49, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
