Corrected Spelling of Name
[edit]I have corrected the spelling of the name of one of the founders of the Hippodrome Theatre: It is spelled "Pearce", of Welsh derivation, not "Pierce", the more common form in the United State of America.
I have inserted the full name of the founder, not because he is indeed my great-grandfather, Marion Scott Pearce, but for historical completeness.
I regret that this makes a written imbalance with the other founder, who is only identified as "Scheck". I have tried to find out his full name, but so far I've been stymied on that point. If anyone can help with this information, that would be very much appreciated.
(The only family name "Scheck" I am familiar with is "Barry Scheck", who was one of the lawyers on the defense team for O.J. Simpson during his murder trial, and later, one of the founders of the Innocence Progect. I don't have any idea if this Scheck has any relation to the Scheck partner who was one of the founders of the Hippodrome. And indeed, I don't know if Pearce's partner's name was spelled "Sheck" or "Scheck". I believe I have seen a photograph of the theatre's exterior when it opened with the names of the partners flown on the building, "Pearce & Sheck", but I could be remembering that incorrectly.
Also, I see that the German word "scheck" translates as the English word "check", the banking document.)
Signed,
David Scott Pearce, Great grandson

Most Recent edit
[edit]Hello everyone the only dominate changes that I have submitted are up to date photos of the theatre and deleting one out of the two info box on the Hippodrome wiki page. For the Info box I didn't think that it made sense to have two info boxes on one page with the interior image of the Hippodrome Theatre all the way at the bottom of the page. See current hippodrome page for reference. I'm referring to the info box with the hippodrome exterior image and the one under it with the national register listing with location map. It looks more cohesive if one out of the two info boxes were consolidated to just one info box preferably the National Register Listing info box would stay. I say this because most of the information in the top info box with the exterior photo of the Hippodrome is already spelled out in the introduction paragraph of the Hippodrome. Whereas information in the national register info box such as the architecture style, the date it got added to the NRHP, reference # and coordinates are not listed in the introductory paragraph. Any information that was lost from deleting the first info box was then added to the detailed description of the hippodrome. See my edit for reference. In this case the only information that was lost from deleting the first info box was just the address and date rebuilt/renovated. Everything else such as the capacity, operator, owner, date built was already listed in the introductory paragraph of the Hippodrome Theatre page. I don't consider the website of the first info box lost information because the http://www.france-merrickpac.com/ website is listed in the reference section of the Hippodrome page. I hope we can come to some kind of agreement in the future. Thank you and happy holidays. Brlaw8 (talk) 12:56, 25 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Brlaw8: When I am using WP:Huggle, it doesn't show the whole page, but just the part that was changed. I didn't see the other infobox, and if you want to revert my edit feel free to do so. Also, it is recommended for you to merge both infoboxes into one. Dat GuyTalkContribs 13:01, 25 December 2015 (UTC)
Thank you. I will merge both info boxes together.Brlaw8 (talk) 13:32, 25 December 2015 (UTC)
Hello Oknazevad. Recently, you reverted some changes to the hippodrome page that have already been resolved between Dat Guy and myself via Dat Guy's talk page. You say "Revert again. It is an active theatre, so the theatre infobox takes orecedence. Period. Do not revert." When I was told that it is ok to merge the two info boxes together. Refer to prior conversation at Dat Guy's talk page or below. I hope we can come to some kind of an agreement, because I assumed that the changes that I have explained below were ok to submit for the Hippodrome Theatre Page. Next time I will post changes made to the Hippodrome talk page. Thank you hope to hear from you soon. Brlaw8 (talk) 14:28, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
Hello again Oknazevad I reverted back to your edit and put the two info boxes back on the Hippodrome page. I understand now that active theatres info boxes take precedence, because I looked at other in use theatres and noticed that they all have the theatre info box. I guess its just adds a little more confusion, particularly in this situation because the Hippodrome is also NRHP site and therefore is qualified to use both the theatre info box and the NRHP info box. So I think I solved my main issue with the page. I found a way to include both info boxes and still have the updated images fit on the hippodrome page proportionately and not at the bottom of the page. Hope you will accept these changes as I have considered your feedback. Thanks again. Brlaw8 (talk) 16:21, 26 December 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brlaw8 (talk • contribs)
