Changes in the article

[edit]

Hi Castncoot, I see that you've added a lot of the material that you wrote, and I removed, back into it. I’m not sure if you realize this, but you’re adding unsourced sentences and incorrect information. Additionally, I’d like to point out that you’ve described your changes in the article as “not quite sure if you know what you’re doing”, (speaking about me) - I don’t think that is a very kind way of collaborating to improve the article. Instead of insulting me, I think it would be far more beneficial for us to work together to improve the article, which is what I am now proposing. To start, I have a few comments below and would like to know your thoughts on them so we can make the necessary modifications to the article without potentially edit warring.

  1. In the introduction, you changed the year from 1994 to 2022 so it reads “As of 2022…” But, using the phrase “as of”, according to Merriam Dictionary indicates a time or date at which something begins or ends. When writing that sentence, I wrote the year that Dr. Uma Mysorekar began her service as president. By writing: “As of 2022, Dr. Uma Mysorekar has served as the President of the Hindu Temple Society of North America, inaugurated so in 1994” you incorrectly use the phrase and also bring confusion by saying “inaugurated so in 1994.” I think it would be better to keep it simple and easy to understand (aka the original sentence)
  2. You’ve added sentences here that aren’t sourced and are potentially incorrect:
    1. This is not sourced: “Over 200,000 Indians in the New York City metropolitan region|Indians live within New York City proper and over 800,000 in the overall New York metropolitan region today.”
      1. There is nothing wrong with adding this type of information but find appropriately sourced material.
    2. In the sentence: “The patasala offers classes to youths in subjects like mathematics, linguistics, religion, bhajanams..”, the word “Bhajanams” is not in the source.
  3. In the first sentence: "The Hindu Temple Society of North America is a nonprofit organization that manages the Sri Maha Vallabha Ganapati Devasthanam temple located in Queens, in New York City." You don’t need to write “in New York City”, because that is incorrect English.

I'd love to know your thoughts on this and I am hopeful we can work together to improve this article.
