Kindly note that a hindu wife, having a living husband, cannot adopt a child, even with the consent of her husband. She may only adopt if her husband is of unsound mind, has ceased to be a hindu or has renounced the world. If husband has expired the wife may adopt subject to exceptions provided in the act.
