[edit]Himalayan International School Himalayan International School, Shimla is a co-ed day and boarding school situated in summer palace of former Maharaja of Darbhanga called Kalyani House located at Chharabra, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. The building was named after Maharani Kam Sundari (Kalyani) Singh, third wife of Maharaja of Darbhanga Kameshwar Singh. This school was founded by Late Major General Jagjit Singh (Retd.) and the main patron was Maharani Kalyani Singh of Darbhanga.Late Major General Jagjit Singh (Retd.) was also the first Chairman of the school. First principal of the school was Mrs. Indira Goswami. After Mrs. Indira Goswami.Late Maj. Gen. Jagjit Singhs Adopted daughter Dr. Miss. Sarita Singh alias Dr. Smt. Sarita V Rao (Now) was immediately appointed as the succeding Principal W.E.F. 1 Jan 1985 and was as principal till 31 March 2001. She was also a board member appointed as Dy.Director of the Sardar Kumer Singh educational society. She has served for 20 years in day cum boarding school.The autobiography written by Maj.Gen.Jagjit Singh has given his appreciation for Dr.Smt.Sarita V Raos valuable contineous hardworks to build the institute. After her retirement Mr. Raja Singh was taken incharge as the next Principal W.E.F 1 April 2001. The school's location is remarkably beautiful with breath-taking views all around.Pir-panjaal range towards the east with lovely Shali-devi temple on top is separated from school by mashobra valley.A helipad and Retreat (summer holiday destination for president),governer's house (punjab) lie in vicinity.Wild flower hall, an international tourist destination)is minutes away and famous tourist spot Kufri is about 5-6 km.The highway on which the school is located boasts of being an international highway leading to Tibet. Summer is the best time to visit while winter is harsh.But snow lovers still flock the place in winters for games in Kufri.Many Bollywood films like "Loot Maar,Badeltay Rishtey,King Uncle"have completely been shot in the scenic beauty of the School. After the death of former Chairman and founder of the school, school lost its dignity and went into the hands of a company Alchemist.Owner of Alchemist tried to demolish the school but parents of the presently studying students stood forward to protest and challenged the company in Shimla High Court,the message spread out through Internet worldwide by social profile networks and old students showed their interest and came to Shimla to help the present ruling committee of the school. Honorable Chief justice ordered the old students to reform the society and raise funds. Soon a society called "HISSA" (a part) was reformed and funds in large quantity poured in,with in a week amount crossed above Five Lakh as being an International school 30% of the old students were foreigners and showed true interest in the school management and saving the school getting into another hands. [edit]I've made this halfway legible, but there's still zero sources. The original text (replicated on this page too for some reason) mentioned the autobiography of the General Major guy, if anyone's interested in looking for it. Also, how does this story end?
