Largest?

Is there a source saying that the County is the largest in the US? Currently, it is uncited and remains in doubt. Polis4rule (talk) 01:22, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

list of schools

This article should really name every school in the county. The list of elementary schools is especially incomplete. I'll probably get around to it eventually, but if anybody wants to get started... Zeng8r (talk) 01:01, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

I added many schools and corrected several errors, added sections on athletics, the gates grant and more, but then was vandalized by someone who took offense at factual information. Perhaps someone else will pick up this task in another 5 years or so.173.170.39.72 (talk) 14:01, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

freedon of speech section

If I am reading this mess correctly, the reason the initial posting about freedom of speech was removed was most likely because it was not balanced and was way too long. There is very little information in total on the page. If there is any doubt as to the relevance of this topic, just do a search on the subject of council of american islamic relations hillsborough county and you will numerous find brand new references such as this one posted today.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with what is now in the article. The section is now a much more appropriate length, but it is still unbalanced. I will balance it out in about 2 hours. On a further read of the section and the sources, it appears the only one making a connection between the two separate incidents is the author. If and when the media picks up on a connection and runs with it, then it may be fair game for this article. There is already a bit in the Wharton article on the "salutatorian" incident; I would suggest adding something to the Steinbrenner High School article about that incident. I would caution whomever writes it to keep it short and balanced, however. I would guess there should be more press on it as it happened in March and the board was to have a hearing on the subject after the article referenced went to press. I would be curious to see what the further reports state. And just an FYI: I do not know of any school district in the US where a teacher has unfettered rights to invite in outside speakers. The board member's quote from the referenced article about inviting in someone from NAMBLA or the KKK is on point. I am going to take the section out of this article. If you disagree, you are welcome to ask for some sort of mediation on the edits, but at this point there are two editors that say no to it and one that says yes. I, for one think there should be no mention in this article at this time. Unbalanced was because you didn't report both sides of what the article said. Undue was do to the length in relation to the length of the entire article. Two seperate issues. None of the edits you have made, either here or at Wharton, reported both sides of the issue (whether you believe it or approve of it or not, the school has a side too). Also, what was here made a connection that no sources made...a relationship between the incident at Wharton and what happened at Steinbrenner. That is called WP:SYNTH and we don't do that. Wikipedia is not a place for original research. It is an encyclopedia, which is a tertiary source. As such, we only write about what others have written; not your observations or beliefs (or the salutatorians either for that matter) about what happened. I hope that makes it clearer for you. No one is writing that there is a freedom of speech crisis in this school system but you. When the media starts covering this as a freedom of speech issue and makes the connections you have made in your writing here, then we can cover it. Gtwfan52 (talk) 20:46, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
