Initial edits
[edit]I have done some basic editing to the article. I changed the title of the main section and placed a short introductory paragraph. In general, the article presupposes that the reader is familiar with the disaster. I think further copy-editing and fact-checking will be necessary.
The use of italics to indicate untrue statements is clearly well intended, but it is not consistent with the rest of Wikipedia. What I have done instead is to use bold text with no explanatory note. Where necessary, I reworded the statement first. Bold text is also used for dates. I don't have the required resources to present these statements in what I think would be the most desirable way, however. What would be best is to report the falsehood, the source of the falsehood, the truth, and the source of the true version, as well as any information that supports the idea that the truth is really the truth. "In 1989, The Sun alleged that X, but the 1990 Taylor Report stated Y, attributing the allegations to Z." I have tried, however, to approach the rewording in a sensitive way. I have just finished watching this and this article, while commendable, needs some work on it Cannonmc (talk) 02:39, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
Seeing this movie
[edit]- @Roches and Cannonmc: This movie will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07bgnkn/hillsborough , until about 4 June 2016. I do not know if it ever will be sold as a video or a DVD. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 07:23, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- I viewed the ESPN version, which is about 15 minutes shorter. I took notes for about the first 2/3. If time allows I'll watch the BBC version and continue taking notes. Incidentally, shouldn't the article be called Hillsborough (2014 documentary), since it was aired on American television in that year?
- This article, and the film, is presented in chronological order of events. The film's strength is the number and quality of witness accounts. So I think it would be useful to list the people interviewed and summarize what they said. This can be done without original research or synthesis. I am not sure how much time I have available for this article, however. Roches (talk) 01:42, 13 May 2016 (UTC)
