Council name
[edit]Councils use a variety of names to describe themselves and brand their services. A look at [1] sees "Hillingdon London" and "London Borough of Hillingdon". If you search within hillingdon.gov.uk you can find reference to "Hillingdon Council", "Hillingdon Borough Council" and "Hillingdon London Borough Council". In the case of Hillingdon they seem to be currently using "London Borough of Hillingdon" (i.e. the name of the borough, not the council) as the most common name to brand their services. This is obviously problematic as an article name as it also the name of the borough, and therefore causes category confustion. In cases where a variety of names are being used interchangeably and the 'common name' is already being used for another article it is better to stick with the formal name. This is also true of the other 32 boroughs. MRSC (talk) 06:13, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
Focus
[edit]Remember this is an article about a council, not a borough. It should be focussed on the history of the council, not the borough for which we have a separate article. Wording should talk about the councils, not the boroughs/districts. MRSC (talk) 09:52, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
