Flattery
[edit]For some time our article has stated:
- She and husband Mike Barry, a teacher and son of All Black Kevin Barry, have two sons, Finn and Ned. On 4 February 2016, Barry laughed uncontrollably when delivering news report after reading a news story about the former Malaysian diplomat who admitted going to a young woman's home with no pants on and defecating on her step before leaving.'
This morning's New Zealand Herald says:
- She and husband Mike Barry, a teacher and son of All Black Kevin Barry, have two sons, Finn and Ned. In February Barry made the news herself when she laughed uncontrollably while delivering a report on the morning programme after reading an item about a former Malaysian diplomat who admitted going to a young woman's home with no pants on and defecating on her step before leaving.
They even had the cheek to have bylines for the two "journalists" too.Moriori (talk) 21:08, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
Laughing on Air Incident
[edit]This is directed at Panamitsu, the page editor. Sorry, I don't know how to send a message to you directly. I'm wondering if you could explain your edits about the laughing on air incident? I've been the one adding more details about the incident. I think what caused so many people to view the incident was that Barry was laughing during a story about a bomb on a plane going off and 1 person (eventually discovered to be the bomber) killed. I think the phrasing of that part gives the impression that Barry was laughing during the Malaysian diplomat story which isn't entirely correct. The sequence of events, according to the YouTube video is like this: 1) Report regarding Malaysian diplomat 2) Reporter uses the phrase "emergency defecation situation" 3) Malaysian diplomat story ends 4) Cut back to studio 5) Barry repeats the phrase "emergency defecation situation" and starts laughing (along with the others in the studio) 6) Barry proceeds to read the story about the bomb on the Somali flight and laughs uncontrollably through it
The way the article now reads gives the impression that Barry was laughing during the diplomat story when she was actually laughing during the subsequent story, though it was a phrase in the diplomat story that caused her to laugh. 50.117.249.149 (talk) 03:43, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
