S. Korea
[edit]The article doesn't mention S. Korea in the Examples section, yet has a picture of a S. Korean highway strip in the media section...(75.65.220.204 (talk) 18:13, 17 October 2013 (UTC))
- Have now created a short section on both South Korea and North Korea.----Josephus37 (talk) 00:53, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
United States
[edit]The article lists the United States as a country that has constructed highways as airstrips, with no citation. This may be related to a common urban legend stating that one out of every five miles of the US Interstate system is designed to be used as a runway. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.153.16.219 (talk) 16:34, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- I removed the United States from the list based on the answer to question #30 on the Federal Highway Administrations FAQ which states:
- Is it true that one out of five miles is straight so airplanes can land on the Interstates?
- No. This is a myth that is so widespread that it is difficult to dispel. Usually, the myth says the requirement came from President Dwight D. Eisenhower or the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956. However, no legislation, regulation, or policy has ever imposed such a requirement. Airplanes do sometimes land on Interstates in an emergency, but the highways are not designed for that purpose.

Inclusion?
[edit]Since the source[1] is readily available, should there be mention in the article about this? Or is the omission of any info adequate enough? Mapsax (talk) 01:09, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
