Plans for this article
[edit]The reason why I put the current planning work in the same article as the Authority itself (instead of separating them out like California High-Speed Rail does) is because there is no official name for the system, lines etc. Once it starts getting built (if it does), then creating separate articles for the announced sections (e.g. Sydney-Newcastle high speed rail line) should be considered, and this article should just be about the Authority itself. - @MiasmaEternal: Thanks for your work on this article, do you think that it would make sense to add information about the National Faster Rail Agency into this article as it was a similar agency of the federal government? According to page 347 of this report, it was established in 2019 and absorbed into the HSRA on 13 June 2023. Note that there is already a redlink to NFRA on Template:Australian rail, which should probably redirect here? Fork99 (talk) 10:32, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
Page rename proposal
[edit]I propose that this article be renamed to High Speed Rail Authority (Australia), as to differentiate it from any other authorities in other countries (previous, current and future). Pinging @True Believers for the suggestion. MiasmaEternal☎ 01:48, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:OVERPRECISION. There's simply no need at this point in time, if we need to, we can do it at a later time. You might want to consider opening a formal requested move instead of just a "discussion survey". Fork99 (talk) 07:26, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Done - see below. MiasmaEternal☎ 08:49, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

High Speed Rail Authority → High Speed Rail Authority (Australia) – To differentiate it from any other high speed rail authorities in other countries (previous, current and future). MiasmaEternal☎ 08:49, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

- In addition, I don't think that there's any train and/or Australia-related WikiProject guideline that stipulates disambiguation when it's unnecessary, unlike the various conventions for US place names like Pasadena, California. Fork99 (talk) 21:49, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose You don't have parentheticals merely for the sake of it, only if there's actually another article with the same name you have to differentiate with. Reywas92Talk 13:49, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
