Merger proposal
[edit]I propose that Otciapofa be merged into Hickory Ground. Hickory Ground is the tribal town, Otciapofa is the Muscogee Creek term for the town, and in the English language Wikipedia the English term is preferred. Muscogee Creek people are defined by their tribal towns; so it's not really a "tribe" as the stub suggests. See articles about other tribal towns, such as Abihka, Alabama-Quassarte Tribal Town, Kialegee Tribal Town, Muklassa, Thlopthlocco Tribal Town, and Tukabatchee. -Uyvsdi (talk) 02:23, 21 August 2012 (UTC)Uyvsdi
- Support, Otciapofa was originally a one-sentence stub which was mostly expanded based on the info on Hickory Ground.--Ymblanter (talk) 05:01, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- Support, Although I had no idea when I found sources for the Otciapofa stub, I suspected as much by the time I finished with Hickory Ground. Altairisfar (talk) 12:47, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sure, I agree with a merge. The article will need to make clear that the Otciopofa people are those who once live in Hickory Ground; they haven't lived there since the 19th century, when they were removed to Olkahoma. Fences&Windows 19:29, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
- Since all the editors recently involved with the articles agree; I'll go ahead begin the merge. Just to be clear, Otciapofa isn't a tribe of Muscogee people or an ethnic group; tribal towns are village communities but are also similiar to a congregations of in a church. -Uyvsdi (talk) 01:36, 23 August 2012 (UTC)Uyvsdi
- Looks good! And thank you for the information. Altairisfar (talk) 03:54, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

It seems to be a place also known as Hickory Ground, which is on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Elmore County, Alabama. Fences&Windows 00:01, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hopefully my additions have clarified this. Altairisfar (talk) 13:55, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- Cool, with all the recent news items about the proposed casino over the gravesites, this article will probably get a lot of traffic. Cheers, -Uyvsdi (talk) 04:09, 23 August 2012 (UTC)Uyvsdi
